Beautiful things for the garden
Last year I bought some auriculas at a show and then spent hours online looking for traditional auricula theatres and other ways to display them. I couldn't find anything suitable, so I had one made by a local artisan joiner and carpenter. I loved it so much I had another, taller one made - and the idea for these plant shelves was born.
Rustic in nature, these shelves are ideal for putting on an outside wall - but they would look equally good inside displaying a range of house plants. Great for balconies or small gardens, for awkward spaces and side returns, these stylish shelves can be decked out with seasonal displays of any small plants you wish - from herbs and trailing plants to succulents and cacti. They could even be used in a shed to store pots, tools and other garden paraphernalia.
We took the decision not to use pressure-treated wood and instead treat our shelves with an organic, non-toxic wood preservative before finishing with a colour-wash.
